Frequently Asked Questions:

How will my card get to a patient?

Once you select your card and submit your message, Gateway to Hope will send it directly to a patient going through breast cancer treatment. For our patients’ protection, all messages will be reviewed before sharing.

What should I say in my message?

We suggest a brief message of encouragement to let the patient know someone is thinking of them, sending well wishes, and cheering them on from afar. For instance:

“I’m cheering you on every step of the journey!”
“We may never meet, but know someone is thinking of you.”
“From one survivor to another — you’ve got this!”

You can write your own message, or select one of our pre-written messages!

What should I NOT say in my message?

Please do not include your last name or any identifiable personal information in your message.

To ensure every card feels meaningful and appropriate for all patients, please avoid references to religious sentiments or holidays.

Please do not offer any medical advice or recommendations.

If a message contains material considered inappropriate by Gateway to Hope, the card may not be shared with a patient.

Can I send my card to a specific patient?

For the protection of our patients’ privacy, we are unable to deliver a card to a specific patient on your behalf.

However, last year Gateway to Hope served nearly 700 breast cancer patients. Your message can make a meaningful difference for another patient who could use a little extra encouragement and support.

If you have a specific person in mind, you can make a donation in their honor HERE, and we’ll let them know with a personalized card bearing your message.
